Strategic Planning /
Local Plan Promotion
extensive experience
We have extensive experience
in the promotion of land through the plan-making process.
We are able to provide planning services through the key stages in the preparation of local plans, from initial Call for Sites submissions to formal representations at each regulatory consultation stage.
We are also able to participate at Local Plan Examinations on your behalf, preparing Hearing Statements, Statements of Common Ground and representing your site at the Hearing Sessions.

Our Experience
We are also able to provide further support in response to Main Modifications to the submitted Local Plan.
Our experience in strategic land promotion includes land which is proposed to be allocated within an emerging Local Plan, in which case our emphasis is on working closely with the planning authority to ensure that there is sufficient evidence to demonstrate to the Planning Inspector that the decision to include the site is ‘sound’ and critically, that the site is sustainable and deliverable.
We also have extensive experience in the promotion of ‘omission sites’ though plan-making process which requires the critical review of the Local Plan at every stage to make the case for the inclusion of your site. This involves the review of key evidence base documents, framed within the ‘tests of soundness’, such as the Sustainability Appraisal, Site Selection Methodology and the overarching Spatial Strategy and Housing Requirement.
Our Experience Includes
Involvement in a number of local plans including (amongst others):
- Plymouth & South West Devon Joint Local Plan
- Wiltshire Housing Site Allocations DPD
- Stroud Local Plan
- The Cranbrook Plan (East Devon)
- Cornwall Site Allocations DPD
- The West of England Joint Spatial Plan
Our approach to strategic planning is to provide you with advice, guidance and recommendations at each stage in the plan-making process in order to ensure your site has the best possible chance of being identified within the emerging plan.
